C=75x+2600

Cost= 75 items+2600

0x^2+75x+2600

20 items or 130 items

I made both equations equal to zero, and then plug them into a calculator. Next, I scored all the answers until I found my answer

The regular one

We found the 4ac part of the b2-4ac equation and it came out to 144. We knew that the square root of 144 is 12 so we knew k had to be equal to 12 to have one solution. Based off this, we knew in order for a positive number to result from the equation, k had to be greater than 12. In order for a negative number, k had to be less than 12.

For this problem we solved it with k still in its place until we got to the discriminant and then we solved for k by knowing the square root of 144 was 12 and that if you wanted the discriminant to be positive k squared had to be over 144, if you wanted the discriminant to be 0 you had to have k squared equal 144, and if you wanted the discriminant to be negative k squared had to be less than 144

We first found answer B. And we used that to work to find anything larger is C. And anything smaller is A. Then we tested both.

For it to be 1 solution the number is has to be 12. For there to be more than one solution the number has to be greater than 12. For there to be no solutions the number has to be less than 12. We found this by plugging a and c into the discriminate and finding that was 144 and then worked backwards to find b.

#67 determine the values of 'k'

Hint: use the discriminant to determine a range of values for k that would give you either imaginary, real, or 1 root.
